Cambodian Information Officials to Benefit from Digital Transformation Training

PHNOM PENH, August 27, 2024 — Cambodia's Ministry of Information has partnered with its Vietnamese counterpart to enhance the skills of 20 key Cambodian information officials, equipping them to maximize the benefits of digital transformation.

The training program, which commenced on August 26 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was inaugurated by Cambodia's Undersecretary of State for Information, Sambo Vannarith, and Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Nguyen Thanh Lâm.

In his opening remarks, Sambo Vannarith emphasized that digital transformation presents a significant opportunity for journalists to expand the reach of their reporting. He expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese ministry for their timely collaboration, noting that the training would help Cambodian journalists develop strategic action plans to leverage digital tools in an ethical, responsible, and professional manner.

He also highlighted the challenges posed by the rapidly evolving media landscape, particularly the proliferation of fake news and misinformation. In response to these challenges, he encouraged the participating Cambodian officials to fully engage with the training by learning, reflecting, and sharing their knowledge and experiences.

This training session is the sixth of its kind since 2017, under the ongoing media cooperation plan between the Cambodian and Vietnamese ministries for 2021-2025. The program aims to strengthen the capabilities of Cambodia’s national radio and television services in production, broadcasting, and archiving, and to foster closer collaboration with Vietnam's media outlets, including the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Vietnam Television (VTV), and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
